When I rate a restaurant, I primarily think of both quality/taste of food and price. That means if something is really cheap but pretty good, it would probably receive a similar rating as a really expensive restaurant that tasted better. These factors are important for me since I am a college student without a full-time job. But of course, if something is REALLY awful, this will affect the rating.
What about other factors?
Although service and ambiance are important factors, being brought up eating at Hong Kong style restaurants, I have adapted to eating in these environments. Moreover, after my recent trips to China, I am not as sensitive to hygiene conditions as I was when I was younger. However, I still do wipe my utensils and bowls down with napkins in Asian restaurants. (That's just what Hong Kong-Canadians do! In Hong Kong, we actually use boiling water to rinse our utensils!)
Summary of ratings:
1 - Never in my life will I come back again.
2 - Meh. I've seen better. Maybe I will give it a chance in a few months.
3 - Okay. It's really just okay.
4 - Quite good! I'm a fan!
5 - LOVEEEE
