Since Bob's Subs was closed, Tiff and I headed to the much fancier Gudrun Tasting Room for Sunday brunch. The last time I've been here was also with her, but I was pleased and surprised to find that it was actually open for brunch, albeit only on Sundays. Other than Sundays, this Steveston establishment is open only in the evening.
I had to get the chocolate bacon waffles ($12) which came with whipped cream and fruit.
There weren't really that many bits of bacon inside the waffles, but the savoury and sweet taste reminded me of the apple bacon doughnut at Lucky's Doughnuts. The waffles themselves were quite good and fluffy and fresh. I enjoyed them as much as the ones from Cafe Medina, especially with the whipped cream.
Tiff's eggs benny with crab cakes ($14) weren't bad either, though I found the crab cakes to be a bit crumbly. Nonetheless, she seemed to enjoy it a lot.
Overall it was a delightful brunch and much fancier and tastier than what we would have had at Bob's Subs. It's nice to find some brunch options within Richmond that are fairly decent.
