After being tempted by Kevin and Jeff with their cheesesteaks, I went back the day after just for it since it looked so delicious. (I wanted it when they were having it too, but I was really too full!) The Cheesesteak is a very new and has opened only for about two weeks. Despite that, it is fairly popular and I think its huge Twitter presence has a lot to do with its success so far. That, and the fact that it really is quite delicious.
The next day I went back it was actually not as busy as I had expected, but it was already 2pm for the record. The Cheesesteak is sort of like a fast food restaurant where you would go up and order your food, but instead of hanging around and waiting, they deliver the food to you. I really like the interior since it's quite modern and comfy.
I got the classic cheesesteak in regular size ($9), which comes with sauteed mushrooms, as well as the standard shaved prime rib and optional sauteed onions. There are three choices for cheese: the American (which I chose), provolone, and cheez wiz.
I was sort of in love. The meat was thinly shaved, so there were a lot of flavours. Combined with a somewhat generous amount of cheese (there's always room for more), they would have been the perfect couple in real life. The sauteed mushrooms and onions would have been their perfect children because they tasted so good together. Okay, I'll admit this is a very, very weird metaphor but I was a bit too happy typing this since it was so good. The bun itself was alright -- nothing really that special to note from what I recall. I do remember Kevin noting it was too soft.
Orlando got the chicken milanese ($10, regular) because he didn't feel like beef. This was their only non-beef choice. The chicken here is breaded, kind of similar to tonkotsu. It's topped with sauteed mushrooms, fontina cheese, and tomato sauce. It was very heavy on the bell peppers -- I thought it was alright. We had agreed earlier to swap sandwiches halfway, which we did briefly. I liked my classic one so much more, so I took it back.
Rating: ★★★★
I feel like this was actually a really good cheesesteak experience, and probably the best I've ever had. Mind you, I'm not that experienced in eating cheesesteaks, but I think this would be my go-to place for cheesesteaks.

You mean, that was their only non-BEEF choice.
I am ambivalent about cheesesteak sandwiches, specially after trying them in Philadelphia (out of all places). As a sandwich, sure, it can be good; however, I prefer banh mi a bit more! :D The price point is where it sort of gets me, not to mention a *cough* balanced diet, hahaha!
Looks really hearty. Tho i'm not a big cheesesteak fan and the sandwich alone will KO me... i'm sure Dave would fancy a visit here sometime soon...
God, TGIFF!!! i'm hungry now...
Great post and pix Janice!

@Kim: Oopsies, I've changed that. Thanks! Ooh I do like banh mi just because I like baguette more. And as for the balanced diet... that's what the mushrooms and onions are for.... hahaha
@Nance: Thanks! Hahaha there's actually two sizes -- regular and large. The ones above are regular! Let me know if you guys do visit it soon ;D
The 2nd time my bread was too soft, too long on the grill. 1st time it was too hard. -__-
The original is lacking meat, they really pack it on for the special items. I find that disproportionate in relation to the pricing scheme.
@Kevin: Hm, really? Maybe the original you had last time was inconsistent as well. Mine was alright, though the chicken one there had more "stuff" overall (including peppers and whatnot).
