$7 & Pasta @ Starlight Casino

Do you like gambling on weekdays either in the morning or in the afternoon? Or do you simply work in the middle of nowhere (I mean, near Queensborough or La Farge, like me)? Well, if you said yes to either of those questions, I have a good lunch deal for you!

Our little department decided to go out for lunch, and someone suggested Sun Sun and I think my face was probably in total shock and horror when they said that.  Being the baby of the team, I got to have my way and we went to Starlight Casino for lunch.  Yes, lunch and only lunch.  I had wanted to come here for a while now, after hearing raves of their $6.99 pasta lunch!

Their $6.99 pasta lunch is available only on weekdays from 11:30 to 2:30, and it's kind of awesome.  They also have this deal on Monday dinners for $8.99, which includes a dessert as well.

So, back to why it's kind of awesome: you get to have your choice of pasta, sauce, ingredients, and have it all freshly cooked in front of you.  For the "main ingredient" you get a choice of either seafood, which is basically shrimp, chicken, or sausage.  You essentially move in a line and watch them cook, and they'll move your personal skillet through the line with you.  It's kind of time consuming and there is a long line if you go right at 12pm though, so if you have a tight schedule for lunch breaks, then I really feel for you since I work on hourly wage too.

Ugh, sorry for the horrible picture -- I don't bring my camera to work, and it was quite dark in the area we were sitting in.  (Hopefully I'll go back soon and take a better picture for you guys.  That's my excuse for going back.)  I ensure you it is much better tasting than it looks! I chose the seafood penne with white sauce topped with everything (which includes pesto, olives, zucchini, mushroom, tomatoes, cauliflower, and cheese).  It also comes with a bread stick.  The sauce wasn't too creamy, yet the meal was very filling since the portion was absolutely huge.  The pesto was quite nice with the cream sauce, not too flavourful, but enough for me.  I ended up packing three-quarters of it.

Definitely a good deal, and one of the better meals I've eaten around the area.  I will definitely head back here for lunch again! It's a bit out of way for everyone else in Richmond and New West, but I'm glad it's here.
